South Australian Bird Company Budgie Seed Mix is a carefully selected blend of small seeds chosen for their taste, texture and suitability for budgerigars. The combination provides variety at feeding time and encourages natural foraging and seed-husking behaviours.

White French millet, panorama, canary seed (20%), Jap millet, panicum, shirohie millet, red panicum and/or hulled oats.

About This Seed Blend

This mix contains a variety of millet and small seeds commonly enjoyed by budgies. Canary seed adds further variety to the blend, while the different seed sizes and textures help make feeding more interesting.

Seed can form part of a budgie’s regular diet, but it should not be the only food offered. For a more balanced diet, provide suitable fresh vegetables, leafy greens and other foods recommended for budgerigars. Fresh, clean drinking water should always be available.

Feeding Information

Place the seed mix in a clean, dry feeding dish and provide an amount suitable for your bird’s size, age and activity level. Check the dish each day, as empty seed husks can make it appear as though food is still available. Remove the husks and replace the seed regularly to keep it fresh.

When introducing a new seed mix, gradually combine it with your budgie’s current food over several days. This allows your bird time to become familiar with the new blend and helps you confirm that it is eating normally.

Storage Instructions

Store the seed mix in a sealed, food-safe container in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, moisture and pests. Always inspect the seed before feeding and do not use it if it appears damp, mouldy or has an unusual smell.
